Area Overview
In 1909, the Lacombe and Northwestern Railway was built by workers from
Lacombe, Rimby and Bently as a means for getting local farm products to the
markets. In 1916 the company went bankrupt and the line was taken over by
the government and extended to Warburg in 1928. Since then, Warburg's
population has grown slowly but steadily to 696 (as of 2009), with a trading
area population of over 1500.
